Of Sustainable Code, Data Engineering, and Such

What this site is about – sustainable code and data engineering practices that last.

Many who work with code and data for their projects feel it by instinct, though would rather not admit to it: there is a bit of a Homer Simpson in most of us, showing up when we need to figure things out as we go, get the job done quickly and move on. Not because we don’t care, but because finding out those small things that make a difference – and applying them too – is anything but easy.

And this comes at a cost, not necessarily an immediate one. Sometimes it’s us, a few months later, staring incredulously at our own code, wondering what we were thinking. Sometimes it’s somebody else trying to pick up where we left off. Sometimes it’s a result nobody can reproduce, us included. The job got done, the results just didn’t last.

It doesn’t take a lot to do better – just a few good habits, understood well, applied consistently. Small things that make a difference, in an intuitive way that clicks – that’s what this place is for. Sustainable code and data engineering practices that last. Because your work deserves to last too!
